Bates v. C & S Adjusters, Inc.
In the following case, the Second Circuit interpreted the meaning of the general venue statute, 28 U.S.C. § 1391. In addition to this provision, Congress also enacted a number of specialized venue statutes for claims involving specific subject-matter areas. For example, 28 U.S.C. § 1400, which you just read, governs lawsuits for copyright infringement.
