TFR Class One-- Frameworks for Financial Regulation

Readings for our first class are designed to introduce students to the structure of financial regulation in the United States, with an emphasis on how the Dodd-Frank Act of 2010 altered that structure and how the resulting organization of financial regulation in the United States compared with other models employed in other advanced countries. The assignment for Class One consists of a draft of Chapter 1.4 (Frameworks for Financial Regulation) from Barr, Jackson & Tayhar, Financial Regulation: Law and Policy (forthcoming). In reading the Big Spring decision, you can skim over the analysis dealing with jurisdictional issues and focus your attention on the elements of the Dodd-Frank Act that the plaintiffs are challenging.
