Any lease may require the tenant to hold certain levels of insurance policy on the property. This may be for the tenant’s protection, but it is definitely for the landlord’s protection. Let me explain. Not only does the landlord have property rights in the property, but the tenant also has rights in the property, and if the landlord wants a tenant out early, the landlord may have to buy out the lease.
