The question of who a child's parents are may seem obvious.  In this section we will explore the difference between biological and legal parents -- and how state laws and precedents can lead to some unexpected - and illogical results. 

 

We will look at how attitudes towards same sex parents have changed over time, and how the courts were slow to respond.
