Right to Use (and its Limits)

The right to use property is one of the chief sticks in the bundle we call property ownership. This right is not unfettered--there are many regulatory restrictions on the right to use real property. These restrictions include (inter alia) environmental regulations, zoning, and civil rights laws as well as common law restrictions based on the nuisance principle that One should not use one's property in a manner that interferes with another's ability to use their property (it sounds fancier in Latin: sic utere tuo ut alienum non laedas.
