This paper – one of the most important in the literature of around networks – lays out the principle of “design at the endpoints.” This principle – and the “layered” model which accompanies it – is absolutely central to the ethos of the internet. How might designing at the endpoints contribute to the ideals of generativity and decentralization developed in last week’s readings?
