This is a collection of judicial decisions that we typically discuss in my class, African Americans: Equality & Law- Weapon or Tool? The cases include some of the most controversial and consequential judicial decisions on race and how American institutions interpret race. The cases are heavily edited to make them easier to read, and I often include notes that provide context and explainations of terms that the reader may be seeing for the first time.
